About Skye Bank in Nigeria
Skye Bank was a Nigerian commercial bank that operated as a universal banking institution providing comprehensive financial services to retail, corporate, and institutional clients. The bank was formed as a product of the 2005 Nigerian banking consolidation exercise and grew to become a systemically important financial institution in Nigeria.
Skye Bank emerged from the merger of five legacy banks and rapidly established itself as a major player in the Nigerian banking sector. At its peak, the bank operated over 300 branches across Nigeria and was classified by the Central Bank of Nigeria as one of eight "Systemically Important Banks" due to its industry leadership, strong market share, and diverse location spread.
