BANHVI

BANHVI (Banco Hipotecario de la Vivienda) is a state-owned housing bank in Costa Rica and the governing entity of the National Financial System for Housing (Sistema Financiero Nacional para la Vivienda, SFNV). The bank was created to address Costa Rica's housing deficit through a public-private alliance with authorized financial entities and housing developers. BANHVI does not operate as a traditional retail bank but rather as a second-tier institution that channels housing subsidies through authorized entities.

The bank administers the Family Housing Bond (Bono Familiar de Vivienda), which has provided housing solutions to over 430,000 families, representing approximately 25% of all Costa Rican households.
