About Housing and Commerce Bank of Eritrea in Eritrea
Housing and Commerce Bank of Eritrea (HCBE) is one of three commercial banks operating in Eritrea and the second-largest banking institution in the country. Originally established as a specialized housing finance institution, HCBE has evolved into a universal bank offering full commercial banking services to individuals and businesses across Eritrea. The bank is owned by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), Eritrea's ruling party, making it the only non-state-owned commercial bank in the country.
As of 2023, HCBE employs approximately 370 staff members and operates with a capital base of 1.6 billion Eritrean nakfa.
