Question 1

What is Credifriuli?

Accepted Answer

Credifriuli (full name: Credito Cooperativo Friuli) is a cooperative credit bank headquartered in Udine, serving the Friuli region of northeastern Italy. The bank provides retail and commercial banking services to families, businesses, professionals, and agricultural enterprises throughout Friuli.

With over 11,000 members, more than 170 employees, and a network of 41 branches across three provinces, Credifriuli represents a significant regional banking presence. The bank is a member of the Gruppo Bancario Cooperativo Iccrea, combining local decision-making with national-scale resources and expertise.

Question 2

When was Credifriuli founded?

Accepted Answer

Credifriuli was formally established in 2001 through the merger of two established cooperative banks: the Banca di Credito Cooperativo Alto Friuli and the Banca di Credito Cooperativo di Cervignano del Friuli. This strategic aggregation created a stronger regional institution while preserving the cooperative banking tradition in Friuli.

However, the bank's roots extend much earlier. The predecessor institutions were part of the Italian cooperative credit movement that began in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The founding banks brought decades of experience serving their respective local communities before uniting under the Credifriuli name.

The merger allowed the new institution to achieve greater operational efficiency, expand its service offerings, and strengthen its financial position while maintaining the local banking model that characterizes Italian cooperative credit institutions. Despite significant growth, Credifriuli has preserved its identity and commitment to serving its members and territory.
