Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS or BMPS) is the world's oldest bank in continuous operation and one of Italy's major banking institutions. With roots tracing back to 1472, MPS has evolved from a charitable mount of piety into a modern commercial bank serving retail, corporate, and institutional clients throughout Italy. Following its acquisition of Mediobanca in 2025, MPS became Italy's third-largest bank by assets. The bank is renowned for its historic significance and extensive art collection housed in its headquarters at Palazzo Salimbeni in Siena.
