About Efisa (em liquidação) in Portugal

Banco Efisa (formally Banco Efisa, S.A. - em liquidação) was a Portuguese investment bank that operated primarily in the social economy sector and business investment. The bank was originally part of the BPN (Banco Português de Negócios) banking group before BPN's nationalization in 2008 following financial difficulties.

Efisa entered liquidation proceedings in late 2021, with the liquidation plan approved by the Bank of Portugal (Banco de Portugal). The bank was formally dissolved and liquidated in December 2023, with its assets transferred to Parvalorem, a state-owned financial vehicle created to manage the remnants of the failed BPN bank.

Founded in 1994, Efisa closed 2022 with shareholders' equity of €30.8 million. The bank's liquidation resulted in 14 employees losing their jobs, with some finding new employment subsequently.
