About FEDECOVERA (Federación de Cooperativas de las Verapaces) in Guatemala

FEDECOVERA is a second-level agricultural cooperative federation based in Guatemala that serves as an umbrella organization for first-level cooperatives in the Verapaces region. Founded by indigenous Maya Q'eqchí and Poqomchí small-scale producers, the federation specializes in the production and export of agricultural products including cardamom, coffee, tea, allspice, cocoa, turmeric, essential oils, and sustainable forestry products.

The organization represents approximately 33,000 to 36,000 producer families organized across 42 member cooperatives and over 21 associations throughout the Alta and Baja Verapaz regions. FEDECOVERA is recognized as the world's leading producer and exporter of organic cardamom and allspice.
