Question 2

When was Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Bayern Mitte founded?

Accepted Answer

The bank's roots trace to 1895, when the Darlehenskassenverein Unsernherrn (Loan Fund Association Unsernherrn) was founded in the Ingolstadt district of Unsernherrn. This founding occurred during a transformative period in German banking when numerous cooperative banks emerged to serve craftsmen, small business owners, and farmers according to the principles of Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen and Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch.

The modern institution emerged through a series of strategic mergers. In 1991, Raiffeisenbank Ingolstadt and Raiffeisenbank Pfaffenhofen/Ilm merged to form Raiffeisenbank Ingolstadt-Pfaffenhofen/Ilm. This was followed by a 1999 merger with Raiffeisenbank Eichstätt, creating Raiffeisenbank Ingolstadt-Pfaffenhofen-Eichstätt.

The Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Bayern Mitte eG was established in 2009 through the merger of Raiffeisenbank Ingolstadt-Pfaffenhofen-Eichstätt and Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Eichstätt. Most recently, in 2018, the bank absorbed Hallertauer Volksbank eG, further expanding its regional presence.
