Simbaru Community Bank

Simbaru Community Bank is a community bank operating in Sierra Leone, licensed and regulated by the Bank of Sierra Leone. It is part of Sierra Leone's network of 17 community banks established to extend financial services to rural and underserved communities across the country. As a community-owned institution, Simbaru Community Bank focuses on providing accessible banking services to smallholder farmers, micro and small-scale entrepreneurs, women, and youth in rural areas where commercial banks typically do not operate.

Community banks in Sierra Leone were created to address the significant financial inclusion gap in the country, where only 12.4 percent of adults have bank accounts and most financial institutions are concentrated in urban centers like Freetown, Kenema, and Bo.
