About Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten in Curacao
The Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS; Dutch: Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten) is the central bank of the monetary union between Curaçao and Sint Maarten, two constituent countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Caribbean. The CBCS administers monetary policy for both territories and is responsible for issuing and managing the Caribbean guilder (XCG), which replaced the Netherlands Antillean guilder in 2025.
As a central bank, CBCS is responsible for maintaining external currency stability, supervising the financial sector, and promoting efficient functioning of the financial system across both islands. The bank holds the distinction of being the oldest surviving central bank in the Americas, dating back to 1828.
