Question 1

What is Banca Prealpi SanBiagio?

Accepted Answer

Banca Prealpi SanBiagio is an Italian cooperative credit bank (Banca di Credito Cooperativo - Società Cooperativa) based in Tarzo, in the province of Treviso, Veneto. Part of the Gruppo Bancario Cooperativo Cassa Centrale (Cassa Centrale Banking Group), it operates 67 branches and three directional offices across seven provinces in Veneto (Treviso, Venice, Padova, Belluno, Vicenza) and Friuli-Venezia Giulia (Pordenone, Udine), serving over 200 municipalities. With over 510 employees and more than 18,000 members, the bank embodies cooperative principles of mutuality, providing personalized financial solutions to families, businesses, and associations throughout its territory.

Question 2

When was Banca Prealpi SanBiagio founded?

Accepted Answer

The bank's history begins in 1894 with the founding of the Cassa Rurale e Artigiana di Montaner, the oldest of the historic banks that today comprise Banca Prealpi SanBiagio. This was followed by the Cassa Rurale e Artigiana di Revine in 1896 and the Cassa Rurale e Artigiana di Tarzo in 1963.

In 1970, these institutions merged to form the Cassa Rurale e Artigiana delle Prealpi through the incorporation of the Montaner and Revine rural banks into Tarzo. The bank changed its name to Banca di Credito Cooperativo delle Prealpi in 1994.

The modern entity resulted from significant consolidation: in 2015, the General Assembly approved the merger by incorporation of Banca Atestina Credito Cooperativo. In 2017, the Assembly ratified joining the Gruppo Bancario Cooperativo headed by Cassa Centrale Banca. Finally, on July 1, 2019, the merger with Banca San Biagio del Veneto Orientale was completed, giving birth to Banca Prealpi SanBiagio.

The bank's current identity thus represents the fusion of approximately ten different cooperative banks founded at different times and places across Treviso, Venice, and Padova provinces, most established in the late 1800s to guarantee members and territories access to credit services—essential for lifting communities from poverty and initiating virtuous paths of economic and social development.
