About Punjab National Bank (PNB) in India
Punjab National Bank (PNB) is India's second-largest public sector bank and one of the oldest banking institutions in the country. Founded with the spirit of nationalism, PNB was India's first Swadeshi Bank—the first bank purely managed by Indians with Indian capital. As of March 2025, the bank operates over 10,189 branches and 11,822 ATMs across India, serving millions of customers with comprehensive banking and financial services.
PNB is a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) working under the Government of India, regulated by the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 and the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The Government of India holds a majority stake in the bank. With over 125 years of banking experience, PNB has established itself as a cornerstone of India's financial system, offering services across retail banking, corporate banking, treasury operations, and international banking.
