BPR Bank Rwanda (Kinyarwanda: Banki y'Abaturage y'u Rwanda), formerly known as Banque Populaire du Rwanda SA, is a commercial bank in Rwanda. The bank is the second-largest financial institution in Rwanda by assets, with a total asset base of approximately RWF 648 billion (approximately USD 642 million) as of 2022. BPR is licensed and regulated by the National Bank of Rwanda, the country's central bank and national banking regulator.
The bank primarily serves as a retail and commercial bank, focusing on consumer banking products, agricultural business financing, and corporate services. BPR is known as "the neighborhood bank" due to its extensive branch network, which is the largest in Rwanda with 154 full-service branches and over 100 ATMs across all regions of the country. As of 2022, BPR employs approximately 1,300 people and serves a customer base of over 428,000 individuals and businesses.
