The bank serves individuals, small and medium-sized businesses, large corporations, and public institutions throughout the country. As of December 2018, NBS Bank held total assets valued at approximately MWK 123.1 billion (US$170 million), with shareholders' equity of MWK 11.5 billion (approximately US$16 million).

The bank is listed on the Malawi Stock Exchange under the symbol NBS and operates as a subsidiary of NICO Holdings Limited, which holds a 50.10% ownership stake.
