About Traditional Credit Union in Australia
Traditional Credit Union (TCU) is Australia's only Indigenous-owned credit union, serving First Nations people in remote communities across the Northern Territory. TCU operates as a for-purpose organisation, delivering face-to-face essential banking services, employment opportunities, and financial education in remote Indigenous communities.
With 85 staff members (over 70 of whom are Indigenous) and operations across 14 locations, TCU maintains a network of 12 remote community branches supported by a service centre in Katherine and head office in Darwin. The credit union has been providing banking services "on country" since 1994.
