Scotiabank was a full-service commercial bank that operated in Puerto Rico as a subsidiary of The Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS), one of Canada's largest financial institutions. The bank served retail and commercial customers across Puerto Rico with a focus on core deposits, residential mortgages, and consumer lending. At the time of its acquisition in 2019, Scotiabank Puerto Rico had $2.5 billion in net loans, $3.2 billion in deposits, 21 branches, 225 ATMs, and approximately 1,000 employees.
