About Charterhouse Bank in Kenya
Charterhouse Bank was a small commercial bank that operated in Kenya from 1996 to 2006. At its peak, the bank held a market share of just 0.55 percent and was ranked 30th out of 41 banks in Kenya.
Despite its small size, the bank became notorious for its involvement in money laundering and tax evasion schemes. It was placed under statutory management by the Central Bank of Kenya in 2006 and formally liquidated in 2021.
