National Banking Corporation is Papua New Guinea's newest commercial bank, officially launched in April 2025 by Prime Minister Hon. James Marape. NBC emerged from the transformation of the former People's Micro Finance Bank and operates as a subsidiary of the National Development Bank (NDB), one of PNG's state-owned enterprises. The bank aims to make modern banking accessible to all Papua New Guineans with a focus on financial inclusion and reaching underserved populations.
