ProCapital is a French investment services provider and credit institution specializing in securities services, custody, and life insurance administration for financial institutions and insurance companies. Based in the La Défense business district near Paris, ProCapital operates as a B2B service provider, offering comprehensive outsourcing solutions for securities operations, asset management, and life insurance contract management. The company does not conduct direct commercial activities with end customers but instead provides white-label platforms and back-office services to banks, asset managers, private banks, online brokers, and insurance companies.

Question 2

When was ProCapital founded?

Accepted Answer

ProCapital was founded in 2000, emerging from the online brokerage Fortuneo. Initially, ProCapital operated both a retail brokerage business under the "Fortuneo" brand and a securities-processing outsourcing business under the "ProCapital" name. The company acquired Comdirect France in 2002 and Direct Finance in 2003, expanding its capabilities. In July 2006, ProCapital was sold to Crédit Mutuel, a major French cooperative banking group, and subsequently became part of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa. ProCapital obtained its credit institution license from French authorities, allowing it to provide regulated investment services. In 2023, the institution received authorization as a bank from ACPR (Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution), expanding its regulatory permissions.

Question 3

Accepted Answer

ProCapital is headquartered in La Défense Cedex, in the greater Paris area, at Tour Ariane, 5 Place de la Pyramide.

ProCapital offers white-label digital platforms including customer websites, advisor portals, discretionary management tools, and advised management tools. Services encompass brokerage operations with multi-market, multi-currency trading capabilities, processing approximately 9.5 million transactions annually. The company provides back-office processing, client accounting, legal and administrative account-keeping, and financial instruments custody services. ProCapital's clients include private banks, asset management companies, banking networks, online brokers, and insurance companies such as Louvre Banque Privée, La Banque Postale Gestion Privée, AXA Banque, and various Crédit Mutuel Arkéa group entities.

Question 6

What makes ProCapital unique?

Accepted Answer

ProCapital is unique as a pure B2B securities and insurance services provider that operates no proprietary commercial activities with end customers. The company's white-label approach allows financial institutions to offer sophisticated services to their clients without clients being aware of ProCapital's involvement. ProCapital was the only French online broker that was a member of Euronext Paris and acted as custodian for retail customers in its early years, and remains one of only two French brokers with proprietary back-office processing. As a subsidiary of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, ProCapital combines the agility and responsiveness of a mid-sized specialist with the reputation and financial strength of a major French banking and insurance group. The company's expertise spans over 20 years, providing complete and modular outsourcing solutions that allow clients to focus on their core business while ProCapital handles complex securities and insurance administration.

Question 7

What type of financial institution is ProCapital?

Accepted Answer

ProCapital operates as an établissement de crédit (credit institution) in France, having received banking authorization from ACPR in 2023. The institution is supervised by the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR) and the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) in France. In Belgium, ProCapital Belgium operates under supervision of the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA - Autorité des Services et Marchés Financiers). ProCapital is classified as a prestataire de services d'investissement (investment services provider) specializing in securities services, custody, and administration. The institution participates in the French deposit guarantee scheme (Fonds de Garantie des Dépôts et de Résolution - FGDR). As a fully-owned subsidiary of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, ProCapital operates as a specialized service bank focused on providing outsourced securities and life insurance operations to other financial institutions rather than serving retail customers directly.
