Citizens Bank of Canada was a pioneering virtual bank based in British Columbia, Canada, and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vancouver City Savings Credit Union (Vancity), Canada's largest community credit union. Established as one of Canada's first branchless banks, Citizens Bank operated primarily online, offering competitive interest rates, lower fees, and a strong social responsibility mandate. In 2017, the bank was rebranded as Vancity Community Investment Bank (VCIB), shifting its focus to become Canada's first Schedule 1 community investment bank dedicated exclusively to financing organizations driving positive social, economic, and environmental change.
