Banco Santander Puerto Rico was a full-service commercial bank operating in Puerto Rico as a subsidiary of Spain's Banco Santander, one of the world's largest financial institutions. The bank offered integrated financial services through its parent company Santander BanCorp, which included three main subsidiaries: Banco Santander Puerto Rico, Santander Securities LLC, and Island Insurance Corporation.
Prior to its acquisition, the bank was the fourth largest banking franchise in Puerto Rico, with approximately 8% of the island's deposit market share. It served retail, commercial, and mortgage banking customers through a network of 27 branches across the island, with approximately $5.5 billion in assets, $2.7 billion in loans, and $4.2 billion in deposits at the time of its sale.
