About Ecster in Sweden
Ecster AB is a Swedish credit institution that previously specialized in consumer credit, payment solutions, and card services. Headquartered in Stockholm, Ecster was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Svenska Handelsbanken AB (publ). The bank offered payment solutions to thousands of merchant partners across Sweden and Finland for both e-commerce and physical retail stores.
Ecster's parent company, Handelsbanken, made the decision to wind down Ecster's operations. As of November 1, 2023, the bank ceased accepting new customers and stopped issuing new loans, credit accounts, and payment cards.
