About National Bank of Panama in Panama
The National Bank of Panama (Banco Nacional de Panamá or BNP) is one of two government-owned banks in Panama and serves as the official state bank of the Republic of Panama. As of January 2009, it held deposits of approximately US$5 billion, making it one of the largest financial institutions in the country.
The bank plays a unique triple role in Panama's financial system: as a state fiscal agent and depository of the nation's funds, as a regulator managing the interbank clearing system, and as a commercial bank offering comprehensive financial services to individuals and businesses. With over 3,670 employees, 93 branches, and 370 ATMs across the country, BNP maintains the most extensive banking network in Panama.
