Banco Agrario (also known as Banagrario) is a state-owned financial institution in Colombia that specializes in providing banking services to rural areas and the agricultural sector. Founded in 1999 as a public limited company with the status of an industrial and commercial enterprise of the Colombian state, it operates under the oversight of the Ministry of Finance and is associated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The bank serves as a key instrument for executing government agricultural policy, being the largest funding provider for small and medium-sized producers. With approximately 850 branch offices across Colombia, Banco Agrario maintains the most extensive banking network in the country, with around 720 branches located in small agricultural municipalities.
Banco Agrario is part of the Grupo Bicentenario and holds a market share of approximately 4% of total assets and 3% of total deposits in the Colombian banking sector.
