El Quebracho Cooperativa provides dairy collection services, collecting approximately 400,000 liters of milk per month under normal conditions, though this can fluctuate based on seasonal and environmental factors. Members receive training programs on proper livestock management, milk quality standards, and sustainable production practices. The cooperative also provides support for accessing credit facilities through partnerships with financial institutions like Crédito Agrícola de Habilitación (CAH). Question 6

What makes El Quebracho Cooperativa unique?

Accepted Answer

El Quebracho Cooperativa operates in one of Paraguay's most challenging agricultural environments—the Chaco region—where water scarcity, extreme weather conditions, and poor road infrastructure create significant obstacles for dairy production. Despite these challenges, the cooperative has maintained operations for over two decades. The cooperative has demonstrated resilience by implementing solidarity programs during droughts and managing road maintenance to ensure consistent milk collection. The cooperative's commitment to its members is evident in its provision of comprehensive technical assistance and access to financing for feed supplements during difficult seasons. The organization was featured on the television program "Paraguay Progresa" under the leadership of President Adalberto Arce, highlighting its role in regional development. The cooperative exemplifies the importance of collective action in sustaining rural livelihoods in marginal agricultural zones.

Question 7

What type of financial institution is El Quebracho Cooperativa?

Accepted Answer

El Quebracho Cooperativa is classified as a Cooperativa Multiactiva (Multiactivity Cooperative) focused on agricultural production and services. In Paraguay's cooperative classification system, it falls under the category of production cooperatives with emphasis on dairy and livestock. While the cooperative's full designation includes references to milk production ("C.M.P. de Leche"), consumption, and services ("Con.S."), it primarily operates as an agricultural cooperative rather than a savings and credit cooperative. The cooperative is registered with and supervised by the Instituto Nacional de Cooperativismo (INCOOP), Paraguay's national cooperative institute. Unlike Type A cooperatives in Paraguay that focus on savings and credit services, El Quebracho Cooperativa concentrates on production support, technical assistance, and commercialization services for its dairy farmer members.
