The cooperative stands out for its integrated business model, combining traditional savings and credit services with retail commercial operations and agricultural production. This multiactive approach allows members to access financial services and purchase consumer goods within the same cooperative ecosystem.

Coopersanjuba plays a vital role in financial inclusion in southern Paraguay, particularly in rural areas and among underserved populations. It is recognized as the microfinance leader in its region, with a strong focus on supporting small producers, farmers, and microentrepreneurs.

The cooperative's commitment to social responsibility is reflected in its comprehensive social programs, including education, healthcare access, technical training, and community development initiatives aligned with cooperative principles and values.

Question 7

What type of financial institution is Coopersanjuba Ltda.?

Accepted Answer

Coopersanjuba Ltda. is classified as a Cooperativa de Producción Tipo A (Type A Production Cooperative) with integrated savings and credit operations in Paraguay's cooperative financial system.

As a Type A cooperative, Coopersanjuba is among Paraguay's largest cooperatives, with total assets exceeding 50 billion Paraguayan Guaraníes. This classification subjects the institution to the highest level of supervision by INCOOP, including stricter regulatory requirements for risk management, capital adequacy, liquidity, and reporting standards.

The "production cooperative" designation reflects its origins and continued operations in agricultural and industrial activities, particularly its organic sugar and ethanol production facility. However, its primary operations focus on financial services (savings and credit) and retail commerce, making it a truly multiactive cooperative that serves multiple economic functions for its members.

This dual nature allows Coopersanjuba to support both the financial needs and productive activities of its members, particularly small farmers and rural producers in southern Paraguay.
