About Maghera Credit Union in the United Kingdom
Maghera Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative that served the local community in Maghera, Northern Ireland. Founded in the 1960s during the early growth of the credit union movement in Northern Ireland, it operated on the principle of members saving together and lending to each other at fair and reasonable rates. In 1977, Maghera Credit Union merged with Glenshane Credit Union to form Carnglen Credit Union Ltd, which continues to serve the community today.
