Question 7

What type of financial institution is Nai'u Ltda.?

Accepted Answer

Nai'u Ltda. is classified as a Cooperativa de Producción Tipo B (Production Cooperative Type B) under the Paraguayan cooperative regulatory framework established by INCOOP.

In Paraguay's cooperative system, cooperatives are classified into three types (A, B, and C) based on their asset size. Type B cooperatives have assets between 5,000,000,000 and 50,000,000,000 Paraguayan guaraníes. This classification places Nai'u Ltda. as a medium-sized cooperative within the national cooperative sector.

The multiactivity nature (C.M.P.A.C.Cons.S.) means the cooperative operates across multiple sectors simultaneously - production, savings and credit, consumption, and services. This structure is common in rural Paraguay, where cooperatives serve as comprehensive community development organizations.

Under Paraguayan Law 438/1994 (Ley de Cooperativas) and its regulatory framework, cooperatives like Nai'u Ltda. are member-owned, democratically controlled organizations that operate for the mutual benefit of their members rather than for profit maximization.
