Liberian Bank for Development & Investment (LBDI)

The Liberian Bank for Development & Investment (LBDI) is Liberia's only development finance institution and one of the country's oldest banks. Originally established as a development bank, LBDI has operated as both a development and commercial bank since 1988. The institution is predominantly privately owned with mixed ownership: 55.53% local shareholding (including over 150 private Liberians) and 44.47% foreign shareholding from major international financial institutions. LBDI is one of the dominant players in Liberia's small banking sector and has the largest branch network across the country with the highest Liberian ownership among commercial banks.
