About First Gulf Bank in the United Arab Emirates
First Gulf Bank (FGB), also known by its Arabic name Bank Al Khaleej Al Awal, was one of the largest commercial banks in the United Arab Emirates. At its peak, FGB was the third largest bank by assets in the UAE, serving both retail and corporate customers through an extensive network of branches across the Emirates.
The bank was a publicly owned institution, primarily owned by several sons of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE.
