Question 2

When was Cooperativa La Norteña Ycuamandyyú founded?

Accepted Answer

Cooperativa La Norteña Ycuamandyyú was founded in 1992 through the merger of two distinct cooperatives in the San Pedro Department: Cooperativa La Norteña San Agustín (established 1974) and Cooperativa San Pedro de Ycuamandyyú (established 1974). The cooperative emerged during the democratic transition period following Paraguay's military dictatorship. Its roots trace back to the rural cooperative movement of the 1960s-1970s, which was supported by the Catholic Church and evolved from the earlier Agrarian Leagues (Ligas Agrarias) movement.

Initially, La Norteña San Agustín focused on rural production and agricultural association, while San Pedro de Ycuamandyyú emphasized urban savings and credit services.
