Originally founded to serve employees of Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation), the cooperative has since transitioned to open admission, serving over 9,000 members. As part of the Sicoob system, Brazil's largest financial cooperative network, Crediembrapa operates under cooperative principles where members are owners rather than customers, participating in decision-making and sharing in financial results.
