TIB Development Bank, formerly known as Tanzania Investment Bank (TIB), is a government-owned development finance institution in Tanzania. As the country's first development finance institution, TIB specializes in providing long-term and medium-term financing for economic development projects. The bank focuses primarily on infrastructure, industrialization (including agro-processing, mining, and general manufacturing), oil and gas, and the services sector. As of December 2023, the bank's total assets were valued at approximately US$157.9 million, with shareholder funds of approximately US$38.73 million.
The bank operates as a policy bank, aligning its operations with Tanzania's major economic guidelines, particularly the Tanzania Development Vision 2025 and the Third Five Year Development Plan (FYDP III). TIB is wholly owned by the Government of Tanzania and is supervised by the Bank of Tanzania, the country's central bank and national banking regulator.
