Originally established to serve residents of Luton and South Bedfordshire, Money Matters provided savings accounts, affordable loans, and financial services to its local community. As a member-owned financial institution, it operated on co-operative principles with no external shareholders, focusing exclusively on member benefits.

The credit union has since become part of Plane Saver Credit Union Limited, one of the UK's largest credit unions with over 28,000 members and more than £62 million in assets.
