Originally founded as Seneca Falls Savings Bank, the institution has maintained deep roots in its local communities for over 150 years.

In September 2024, Generations Bank entered into a definitive purchase and assumption agreement with ESL Federal Credit Union for $26.2 million. The transaction is expected to close in 2025, after which the bank will be integrated into ESL's operations and the Generations name will be retired.
