Banque Nationale pour le Développement Économique (BNDE) is a state-owned development bank in Senegal with a universal banking license, specializing in financing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Established as a public-private partnership, BNDE operates with 81.8% ownership by the Government of Senegal as of 2023, positioning it as a key instrument for implementing national economic development policies. The bank has grown to become the fourth-largest lender in Senegal by financing volume, with total assets exceeding 332 billion CFA francs (approximately €506 million) as of 2021.
BNDE focuses primarily on supporting SMEs and small industrial enterprises (PME-PMI) while progressively expanding into other banking segments including large corporations, institutional clients, the Senegalese diaspora, and microfinance institutions.
