The credit union underwent several expansions and name changes throughout its history. On November 21, 1972, it expanded membership throughout Florida and became IBM Florida EFCU, with assets approaching $2.5 million. On October 31, 1977, it expanded again to include Alabama, Mississippi, and Puerto Rico, becoming IBM Southeast Employees' Federal Credit Union with nearly $15 million in assets.

On July 1, 2015, the credit union converted from a federal charter to a Florida state charter, becoming IBM Southeast Employees' Credit Union (IBMSECU). On March 2, 2020, the institution rebranded to its current name, iTHINK Financial, to reflect its expanded community focus beyond IBM employees.
